This is Sharon’s idea of riding the waves: getting just close enough to the water to get her tires wet.
Hilton Head’s Forest Beach is a broad 12-mile-long swath of sand packed so hard by the ebbing and flowing tides that bike tires barely leave a mark in it.
Beach-biking is big here. After watching the windsurfers one recent day it occurred to me that if we rigged a sail to a bike, we might invent a new sport.
