Watching the sun set
beyond the rolling waves
I mourn the dying
of yet another day
The night
falls silent
crow fethers
falling light
as rain
the moon
whispers secrets
only the
stars can
hear
Bent
a bending was done
a force applied
unseen
unnoticed
at some point in time
an altering of perception
a change of direction
unfelt
unreckoned
a bending of lines
a distortion of mass
a gravitational event
unbalanced
unsteady
I am forever bent

secrets
there are secrets hiding in the night
dancing in the guise of sweetest dreams
knitting their way into my deepest sleep
misplaced visions of a place unseen

Lightly
Tread lightly into my slumber
tiptoe across the creaking floor
take care not to wake me
slip softly beneath the crumpled sheets
slide silent between my waiting arms
hold tight my heartbeat in the darkness
and let me dream forevermore

porch sitting on a summer evening
sitting on the porch
with a sea breeze
cutting thru the heat
of a summer evening
listening to the quiet
drinking too much beer
remembering old things
without the weight
of wondering if those
memories are better
left forgotten

ocean mist
There is an ocean mist about
drifting in from a cold winter sea
whispering softly through the cedars
in a glowing emerald spray
It sets in the mind as a peaceful refrain
dancing to the music of the
gently falling rain

A Portrait
I painted you
from memory
on a canvas held
taut with time
gentle strokes dipped
in the textures of
your touch
colors dripped
from the palette
of my mind
I hung it on
an empty wall
lit candles on
either side
a faded bright
against the night
to chase away
the gloom
now my heart
is not alone
when twilight falls
and darkness calls
upon these
empty rooms
