A Summer Lament
October comes sneaking
on the cool north breeze
dressed in her fiery finery
while baring a bouquet
in the myriad hues of dyeing
to lay at summers grave

It's that time again.
Graveyard in Twilight
A graveyard in winter twilight granite adorned in crystals of white
while sentries of sleeping oaks stand weary guard in the fading light
in this quiet place where the used bodies go
spirits silently waltzing to the rhythm of the falling snow
JWB 2017
A stormy morning
where the sand
meets the sea
The sky opens
the thunder rolls
and its good to
have a friend
I miss my little buddy.
Would you hang or would you sink? Flutter like butterfly or moth? Freeze over or return to ash?
Flying is exhausting
The endless flapping
And flapping and flapping
So much easier to stop and drop
To finally have a rest
A body
At rest is not
Always inertia
Sometimes it's just
Rest

the memory of
a touch
warm and trembling
the memory of
eyes sparkling on
in the summer heat
the memory of
a smile turning
slowly to a first kiss
the memory of
a night with
a life of it's own
My dreams need subtitles.
Delicious.
Our Skin betrays We plunge at the Mercy of fevered minds… hungry hearts Devouring delights like children with Christmas candy……

Goodbye
The rain came
on its last night
The fog rolled in
from the sea
The old year
slipped silently
A ghost through
the dark night
Crooked smile
on its cracked lips
Pockets stuffed
with nightmares
A suitcase packed
with lonely souls
Whispered curse
on its crusty tongue
“Let the new year decide
what horrors may come”

Eulogy
Evergreen hiding behind shinning multi-colored electric stars and globes of red and blue Aroma of snowy cedar and peppermint candy canes with the promise of sugar-plum dreams
Dying amidst children laughing as caroling voices sing Longing for its mountain home for bird’s song and squirrels at play quiet awakening growing tall with one more spring day

Watching the sun set
beyond the rolling waves
I mourn the dying
of yet another day
One of the neighbors came by for coffee this morning.
Summer Sun
When the sun burns
down on you
with his angry fire
and his burning light
Look back at him
with the moon
in your smile
and the stars
in your eyes
He needs to
be reminded that
he is not the only
game in town
