It’s craft day in the Kitchen! Today we are building a New England village from a vintage 1970s cut and assemble paper art kit. The paper collection represents twelve architecturally significant buildings found in the Northeast. So far, the favorite is Beach Tavern, one of the oldest buildings in the paper model kit and in real life! Built in 1814, I’m happy to say that this building still stands today on Main Street in Cheshire, CT - the same town where Louisa May Alcott’s dad taught school in the early 1820’s. How fun to think he might have passed it on his way to and from school. Swipe to see more photos of the paper assembly and of the real building as photographed in 1933 and 2019. #papermodel #paperart #beachtavern #tavern #connecticuthistory #louisamayalcott #vintagecrafts #1970scrafts #craftday #paperbuildings #newengland https://www.instagram.com/p/B6l2NJIgsn5/?igshid=63wj4zgamfhj
