maybe going out into the woods alone wasn’t the best idea , but she had to prove to her twin that she was just as good as him when it came to hunting supernatural creatures , even if the way she did it was a bit more -- silly. though the forest was far more creepy during the night then the day , and she was already tempted to head back to the shack and give up.
“ oh come on mabel -- nothing’s in this forest! just a few gnomes , and ..deer? and , some bears and stuff , you can deal with bears and stuff! you got your grappling hook , nothings gonna happen ! .. right? “
❛ NO! get those wretched creatures ( turkeys ) away from me. ❜
“You certainly talk big for someone as HIDEOUS as yourself.”
What the heck even was that thing? Some kind of REJECTED tree creature? Whatever it was, Arvo didn’t like it. Anything with a face like that who is confident enough to call his turkey’s wretched should stop for a moment and take a good long look in a mirror.

being on an adventure by herself was kind of weird, these days, but she could roll with it. star had oooh’d, aaah’d, skipped and sung her way through the unknown, making fast friends with every single person on the way. it was FUN, and all the inhabitants were delightful. but now that she’s picked up on someone following her? the darkening landscape sure is losing some of its charm. she’d picked up on it quickly ; her royal guards had done a fine job of teaching her the wonderful art of wildlife survival.
and when there’s a rustling and a snap of twigs close enough she whirls around, her wand firing up, casting enough pink light for her to see the shape of the creature. part of her is alert, suspicious. another part, which sounds an awful lot like marco, is telling her not to judge, reminding her of how her days of monster prejudice ought to be behind her. she keeps the wand in hand anyway, just in case. “ uhhmm. hi there, mister... antler guy? or are those horns? ‘cause if they are... “ she points excitedly to her head, indicating her own red ones. “ horn buddies! huh? huh? “
“Nahh, I like it.. I think it brings out my eyes!”

Over time, the cold seemed to subside, despite there still being snow on the ground. This was a simply observation the child made, along with many more (such as the strange changes his body appeared to be undergoing, skin paling and awful headaches). That is all it was, an observation, nothing more, nothing less. It was not like it mattered to the little one anyways, he was dreadfully quiet as of late.. Perhaps this had something to do with the fact his brother was gone. It was unknown how long ago this tragedy had occurred, but loneliness was not something Greg was particularly fond of.
Not even his frog was around to keep him company.. The cold weather had certainly taken its toll..
It was quite obvious the boy was out of his element, unable to effectively cope with the combination of fear and loneliness his current situation was forcing upon him. He was but a child lost in a forest that seemed to swallow up everything that dared to approach. Nobody to look towards for help nor comfort, it was rather maddening really.. Despite the current predicament, he found it necessary to keep himself occupied with small activities. Drawing in the snow, climbing trees, fooling about near frozen ponds, and perhaps even playing a few rounds of two old cat on his lonesome (it proved to be rather difficult seeing as cats were not common to find during the cold season).
In the middle of his nap interrupted a very deep voice that he instantly recognized as belonging to the Beast. Tired luminescent hues traveled upwards to meet with those of the creature carrying the lantern. He pushed himself until he was sitting up and rubbed his face drowsily before blinking a few times
“Huh? How’d you find me?”
Perhaps he should not have fell asleep in the middle of a path while attempting to play a very long game of hide and seek with the Beast. Suddenly, upon evaluating what the creature had said, he realized what he was referring to, and he couldn’t help but keep silent for a short duration of time.
“What’s it to ya?”
Greg huffed, narrowing his eyes before standing up completely. The snow beneath him offered a pleasant crunch as he did so. He didn’t think that topic was any of the Beast’s business. He really needed to learn to stop sticking his nose into other peoples affairs.
