Kiowa artist Teri Greeves speaks about her beadwork. From our NDNRT discussion about what's 'traditional', I respect what Greeves says in this video about her own art that keeping certain elements of tradition was important to her, but that through her art she was able to move to working with items that were not 'traditional'. It is my belief that this is a balance and journey unique to each individual Indigenous artist. I love that she has found her balance, and that rather then restricting her creativity, if anything she says for her certain traditional processes have added life to her new 'contemporary' creations.
