Fog nesting in the woodchips.
Rigged a turkey pen at the rear of the Beak Bunk for Pepper so that she could start getting used to her (hopefully) new flock. When they are a bit bigger the chicks will integrate in with her, and then all of them will join the Beak Bunk biddies (and CinderFella).
That is the plan, anyway, and we shall see if it works. In the meantime, Pepper has a larger space to stretch out in and explore. Fingers crossed.
The Fort Featherly Flock
CinderFella, resident rooster (Ameraucana bantam)
Ece, on left, and Fog (Ameraucana hens)
Pickerel, left, and Pumpkinseed (Yokohama x Pyncheon) hens
Figs (Pyncheon hen) and Bumble Chickskin (Pyncheon x Yokohama) Bumble is a hen, who crows. Her moms are Pickerel and Pumpkinseed who shared hatching her egg and raising her. Her father was a Pyncheon roo.
Morgan/Morgaine and Prinney (Creve de Couers) Morgan (on left) is a hen with rooster characteristics, crows and rarely lays eggs.
And finally, Pidge, (Delaware, in the hole) and Nevar (Ayam Cemani) the Black Hole of Hendom standing beside her. These two hens are besties and usually hang out together unless Nevar is in "one of her moods".
Nevar enjoying a brief appearance of the winter sun.
All right, who is in charge of windows in this dump? Get over here and fix this pronto! A gal can’t even see her own reflection in this glass, a travesty! That is what it is, a Travesty!
Between the dogs and the chickens and the fish I feel all I do is clean windows around here. A thankless job. D:
Two hen/roos, hens with rooster features/behaviours. Bumble Chickskin, Pyncheon x Yokohama and Morgaine/Morgan, Crevecouer bantam. These girls crow after laying an egg!
Pidge testing the solidarity of the Beak Bunk. One can never be too careful when choosing a new home. The Foundation must be sound.
