Virgil is having an awful day. He’s running late to a meeting with his publisher, the barista spells his name wrong - and then he turns around too fast and accidentally spills coffee all over a stranger’s laptop.

Luckily, Devin is gracious and charming, but of course Virgil insists on leaving his number so he can arrange to pay Devin back - after all, he can afford it.

Only they start texting and… he’s funny, in exactly the dark way that Virgil likes. And he just sent a photo of him holding his pet snake and - he’s not allowed to be funny and cute, Patton, you don’t understand -

Patton: He sounds Devine!

Virgil is cautious, of course. But it’s so nice to meet someone who doesn’t know his novels (and their net worth) more than they know the real him. It seems perfect, that spilled coffee a happy accident of fate.

… But it was no accident, and Devin isn’t as ignorant as he seems. He’s a seasoned con artist, and Virgil is the mark of a lifetime. Everything about their first meeting and their subsequent relationship has been perfectly planned down to the smallest detail. Except for one thing:

Devin never expected to fall in love with the target.

well as you probably know my code is destroyed and in HQ’s eyes i’m not a squip. i’ve become corrupted to the point of no return and the code that got destroyed was the one that said how i got discontinued. so technically i’m not a squip anymore so the same rules don’t apply. although mountain dew that effects how squips act does effect me

Ah no we have a specific assignment sadly. We gotta design a building. But I already got some ideas.

It is kinda fun. And like... I'm not allowed to have my phone anyways in the evening coz "evenings are for family" or something like that, so then it wont hurt to watch television with them.

Yeah it is the news. And then we are gonna watch a thing about teenagers who get in contact with criminals and drugs and stuff. It is actually kinda interesting.
