Greetings! Happy almost mid-way through the semester! I'm currently student teaching (not sure if I've mentioned this) and I really want to formulate a 2-3 day Halloween lesson that will knock the socks off my kids. Any spooky suggestions?
We read “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe and it went over pretty well with the kiddos. I did some preliminary vocab work with them (wooo fun not fun, but necessary), before reading the story along with this awesome video. I also have some silly BINGO-esque card for them to fill out while reading.
When we’re done, they write a narrative response with a choice among the following: rewrite the ending of the story from Montressor’s POV or write a sequel with themselves as the protagonist. We shared these stories out loud on Halloween, which was pretty neat.
Hope this sparks something!
