The Beards - I'm in The Mood... for Beards
TIL there is a band called The Beards, and all of their songs are about beards.
Mixcloud Playlist - We Gathered In Spring
This playlist consists of just over an hour of music from various beard-rock gods from Jim James to Midlake to even Thom Yorke. It’s the perfect companion to a Spring drive with the windows down. Please enjoy.

As usual, Ross Horton at The Sleeping Shaman totally gets it. Check out this in-depth, funny, well-thought-out essay on We Hunt Buffalo's 'Blood From A Stone' EP--and, inadvertently, "Beard Rock."
ALBUM SPAM AHOY: We put The Dignity of Man up in full on SoundCloud in case that’s how you prefer to see/share it, if you care about seeing/sharing it. If you want to buy it, it’s available at http://theseestates.bandcamp.com in digital and vinyl editions.
A couple of things spurred this on. First, there's now an extremely positive writeup on the record from Pat Book over at Sound Salvation Army. Pat writes that the chorus of "Stripes of Faith" brings to mind "Sloan, Replacements, and Hüsker Dü records that seem to have influenced these young fellows," that the record "boasts propulsive guitar/bass/drum arrangements that show off plenty of creative spirit," and that "there is a rough-hewn and caustic veneer on some of these songs but the honesty, insight, and occasional ignobility of Cameron’s words make them something approaching masterpieces, each worthy of being paid some attention." We're all genuinely, sincerely touched that anyone would actually like this record that much. It's terribly gratifying, and also a nice reminder that our record actually exists, whoops.
Second is that John wound up on SoundCloud thanks to hearing about the really cool Leverage Models debut LP, which is up there in its entirety. If you're anything like him and you're trying to keep your resolution to go to the gym once in a while for chrissake, then his advice is to get the Leverage Models stuff onto your whatever and jog along to the jitteriest new-new wave this side of More Songs About Buildings and Food.
Anyways. Our thing is now on SoundCloud, is the thrust of this post, for all of you SoundCloud fans out there. Sadly there are no tremendous drops on our record for you to annotate but such is the way of the world.
antiquated upload and more talk of beards
this antiquated curtain song has givin' me nothing but trouble. recorded/scraped. recorded again--tooooo slow/scraped. recorded again, and i think i may be out of the woods with it now. finally.
i've started about 13 songs and none of them are nearly finished but that's what the weekend is for right? i think i'm going to keep 10 of them for the record. i want it to feel like a record. the way records used to feel. one body of work. thirty minutes is the perfect length, i think. and most of all i want it to be a good record to wash dishes to (this is vital, as i do a lot dish washing). i once made an album called "music to garden to" which led to the idea of doing a trilogy of albums that would be music to do "something" to... i kind of abandoned the idea because i liked my last album title (sing like buildings) so much and i didn't want to be too gimmiky. but maybe this could be music to wash dishes to. i'll have to sleep on it.
the beard is coming along as well. it is totally becoming a "folk-singer" beard ala jim james... long live the folk beard!!!!
p.s. i went ahead and uploaded the slow version of "antiquated curtain" just to test out the little player. it's a very nice feature that i'm looking forward to using in the next 20 days or so...
