Williams, Bearzona, and Nature...
Ok so I don’t know how I feel morally about Bearzona, but it was fun if you didn’t think about the captive animal and cubs being taken away from their mother piece. Jill was able to get cheap tickets so we went with them. I also don’t know if I’d pay full price, but I do have to say it’s one of the nicest touristy things to do in Northern Arizona besides you know the Grand Canyon. Bryan and I were so surprised.
First we drove through the park in the car. Then we did the raptor show, and then fed the river otters, and then did the open air bus tour.
It was really hot that day so the animals were all trying to find shade or their water tubs.
After the tour I overheard someone telling their grandchild “I thought you wanted to experience nature. Your mom brought you here, so you could see what nature was like and you’re just being ungrateful.” A. The child was probably being ungrateful, but B. Bearzona isn’t nature. There is nothing “natural” about it. If you want to come to Northern Arizona and experience nature go out to the forests (but please don’t because I really like having them all to ourselves when we’re cutting wood)
If you do want to go to Williams then I have a few recommendations from the last couple of weeks and beyond. Eat at the Pizza Factory. It’s fun, low key and we eat there all the time. There is a great ice cream place down the street from it that is really good too. The Grand Canyon KOA is really nice and so is the Circle Pines one. The Deer Park is fun (if you are ok with non-nature nature), but splurge for the bucket so the deer don’t knock you over once the food is gone. This time around we went to South Rims.
The food was pretty good. I had the bruchetta, Bryan had a burger, and Zippy had the Mac and Cheese. I also got a wine/beer flight. The Sonoran Brewery White Chocolate Ale was superb. It’s really smooth and not sweet. However, don’t bother with the deserts. I think they were store bought, and not worth it. Go get the ice cream instead!
