06. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?
Viola haaaates that Gascoigne hunts, and even more so that he kind of enjoys it. She’s always so worried he’s going to get hurt or killed, but she’s never been able to convince him to quit. Another hobby of Gascoigne’s is his love for piano, but his inability to really play it very well because of his big clumsy fingers. He tries, but the discordant sounds after a while get exasperating for poor Viola. Gascoigne’s secret adoration for baking she also finds odd, since he SUCKS at cooking. She finds it even odder that he’s so dang shy and secretive about this hobby, but she doesn’t fight it.
12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?
Honestly, hunting. He’s done it for so long and it’s so well-suited to him that even if the beasts were to suddenly all disappear, he would feel rather empty and wouldn’t know what to do with himself.
15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person’s name makes them tremble with anger or fear.
There absolutely is, but I don’t have a specific person in mind at the moment. Though I don’t doubt there are several. He’s got a particular distaste for the whole Vileblood vs Executioner feud since so many innocent people get caught up in that and killed. Anyone who kills innocents and/or children is immediately on his list of instant strong dislike.
35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go?
He’s not afraid of death itself. He’s old (by that day and age), his time was approaching anyway. Being a hunter, one has to accept the possibility of death. He’s more afraid of what he leaves behind. Sadness in his loved one’s hearts. Not enough to help support them after he’s gone. As far as how he’d want to go, of course he’d like to go easily, painlessly, and quietly, with the comfort that his family will be well taken care of in his absence.
48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your character’s jealousy? Or does your character not get envious?
He doesn’t get envious often... but especially when he gets inflicted with beasthood, he does get a little bitter about those he finds that seem to handle it better than him. On a completely different note that’s somewhat related to the question, he’d totally be one of those dads that totally flips out once his girls get to dating age. Like, unironically sit in the livingroom loudly sharpening his axe and/or cleaning his gun when the date comes to visit psychotic. He’d bitterly miss the company of his girls. But good thing he’d dead before that happens. =‘) (And well, in canon they are too, but in my AUs where one or both of the girls survive... yeah)

☆ ━ If you could live in the world of your muse(s) would you?
Live in Yharnam? Heck no. I’d die. I’m a tiny 115lb noodle that can hardly stand up for longer than 20 minutes without passing out some days. I faint at the sight of blood and I gag at the smell of rot. I’m irrationally freaked out by maggots (which, with all the bodies, I’m sure there’s ton of). I got wrecked by a chihuahua once, I can hardly imagine what would happen if I met a friggin’ scourge beast. And most incense gives me a headache. I’d suffer and die so fast in Yharnam, it’d be outrageous.
☮ ━ What do you do to try and get the muse to roleplay a character?
Hm... I think I just kinda derp around until I’m like, “Hmm, I think I’m gonna write stuff now!” and then I do. If I try to force it, it doesn’t happen, haha! Or at least doesn’t happen very easily. Sometimes I just have to start writing random stuff until the muse clicks, then I delete/edit everything and continue on with the muse. It’s weird.
@beastembraced
Deft hands wrap around his neck, claws kissing light cuts into his flesh. A beastial purr rumbles in her throat as she nuzzles his scruffy cheek, nose tickled by the bristles of hair. A leg curled around his waist, pulling him in harshly; her heat responding to his own interest.
A blood-soaked queen of the night, Laura properly greets him with teeth; pulling and ripping, her grip almost as desperate as her own need. The night of the Hunt had brought forth worthy prey; walking carcasses that were fit for the slaughter. Her thirst insatiable, there was plenty to feast upon. Yet it wasn’t until she met up with her so-called “mate” that she had finally realised that it was a much different thirst that racked her nerves.

4) Are there any angsty subjects you won’t write about?
Uuuummm… I can’t really think of any since I haven’t yet stumbled into angst I’ve said no to? That could be because I haven’t done a ton of it though. I dunno.
Badly written/planned out stuff I suppose I don’t like and get bored with pretty quick. And stuff that goes on forever! I think the best angst is balanced out with the fluffiest of fluff on occasion, just to make the angst–when it happens–so much more poignant and satisfying. Basically, angst with no hope/desire for improvement is bleh. If someone’s just wallowing in self-pity and legit gets stuck there, I get bored. But if they’re wallowing in self-pity and something drags them (maybe even kicking and screaming) out of it, now that’s fun.
8) Have you ever been in a horror fandom?
Umm… hard to say. Like, I’m a complete and utter chicken and I struggle mightily with anything spooky, especially malevolent ghosts, demons, possession, etc. Bruh, I will become unglued if I have to watch a paranormal movie (but I do anyway sometimes… then I don’t go anywhere without light for 5 days). So while I absolutely adore spooky stuff, I am also easily spooked, so I can’t say I’ve ever been in any/many pure horror fandoms. I was in the Until Dawn fandom for a while (FOR THE WENDIGOOOOOOS YAAAS WENDIGOS) though… does that count? Fandoms with horror elements, yes, quite often, but pure horror things, not very much. I too scare
12) Do you have a go-to angst partner?
Recently @spiritofstarvation, @thecrimsonvalley, and @guided-by-the-blood have been my biggest enablers. Though there are plenty of others who I’ve had a blast touching on angst with, as well as some in the past that I’ve done my fair share of with with (looking at you @thegreatandmightyone and a couple other off-site peeps).
21) Do you get inspiration from dark or dramatic sources in media, like books and movies?
At a subconscious level I’m sure I do. Absolutely. I don’t often explicitly think, “Ohh, this element from this piece of media! I should use that!” very often however. I do like to brush up on stuff like werewolf transformations and how they’re done in movies and whatnot on occasion because I enjoy those and want to make my own transformation thingies good, gruesome, and painful. I always think I’m gonna draw stuff for it but then I get lazy because comics are hard. =‘D One of my biggest problems though is that I don’t really watch TV shows anymore, and I only watch movies when someone else drags me along. I haven’t even read any books other than the Silmarillion and Eragon in the past year. T_T I really need to fix this, but I keep getting sidetracked by things like roleplay and video games. I still have a number of Stephen King books I still need to read!
Tabletop roleplay however I do recall using very specific references for. Like, I straight-up have ripped off stuff from Mushi-Shi or Ghost Hunt for plots for little one-shot games I run for friends, as well as The Walking Dead (which I haven’t even seen beyond the first episode), Dishonored, and We’re Alive for another. And one of the best things? Try ripping off the plot of an episode in a kid’s show (I’ve used Dragon Tales before, as recommended by a friend) and put it as a side quest in a roleplay. That stuff is wild, and your players will think you’re genius for the unique, convoluted plots.
"What happened to your face?"
Nikolai looked at the stranger with a slightly annoyed expression, wiping some blood from his nose.“I had a run-in with some assholes who thought it would be fun to try and beat me up. They ended up worse than me, though”, he responded.

01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?
Nikolai means “Victorious” or “conqueror of the people.” I mostly picked it for the way it sounded, but I’ve wanted a character with that name since I had a friend online years ago named Nicolai on a game called Kitsu Saga. When the game shut down I lost contact with him since we never shared info for anywhere else. But I really liked his name, so even back then I decided I wanted a character named that someday.
I didn’t really know the meaning of the name until recently, but I’ve decided to add the meaning onto his childhood troubles. I’ve mentioned before somewhere that Niko was supposed to be the prodigal son, meant to do his family proud and all that (thus the meaning of the name), but instead he ended up being a sickly weakling and kind of being a disappointment. So while Niko doesn’t hate his name (his mother chose it and he was pretty close to her so he loves it because of that), the irony of being unable to live up to his name is a soft spot.
07. Is there a catchphrase or sound that they tend to make a lot (likely without being aware of it)?
Not sure about a catchphrase. He does apologize a lot, and since he gets scared or hurt a lot pathetic whimpering is a noise he certainly makes quite often. He’s also prone to using honorifics even if someone isn’t introduced with them. Mr, Miss, Lady, good sir, etc., and especially with people he looks up to/sees as superior he has a hard time dropping the titles even when they request him to cut it out.
11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?
Answered over here! ^_^
21. What is one of your character’s biggest fears? How would they react when dealing with this fear?
Hmm, that’s a tough one! Nikolai is scared of a LOT of things (he’s very jumpy, the poor kid). But biggest fears... I think something happening to him that would prevent him from doing what he loves. Like going blind and being unable to read. Losing his mind, which he values a lot since his body can’t really do much. Anything that cripples him to the point of being unable to fulfill his goals or do what he loves.
Strangely enough these are things I do to him with the whole beasthood thing! Gets one eye injured pretty bad (thinks he’s going to go blind), and he does lose his mind as he succumbs to the scourge, which in and of itself means he’s failed and can’t show his family that he’s actually capable of being useful somehow (like becoming a distinguished scholar as he planned). He’d also be terrified of losing close friends, since he doesn’t have very many. He’s loath to become a burden on people, and will go to great lengths to avoid letting people know about some of his problems so he doesn’t burden them, sometimes even becoming reclusive if he’s unable to hide the problem while he’s around people (like when more symptoms of beasthood show up, he shuts himself away so people can’t see him).
Depending on the fear, he can be come frozen/crippled with fear, become reclusive, or fall into a spiral of self-pity.
29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?
Dang, another tough one! I don’t have a ton about his family fleshed out, so I don’t know of any things for that. As for more recent events however, he doesn’t really have any loved ones that are officially canon and/or roleplayed out, though I think the best candidate for that is in a roleplay with @guided-by-the-blood‘s Lucille where she and Niko were attacked by a beast, and Niko was forced to kill it to save her. As an animal lover and someone who can and will faint at the sight of blood (as well as being rather adverse to violence and killing), it was pretty rough for him to do. But since he does develop a crush on her later, I suppose I’ll count that as an act of bravery for a loved one. Especially if you count platonic love, which he certainly has for her even at the time of that scene!

I FINALLY BEAT HIM! JUST A FEW MINUTES AGO!!! AAAHHHHHHH!!! But it’s just NG. I’m too much of a chicken to go into NG+ yet, haha
