There is strategy and skill to playing Beat Hazard, but ultimately the purpose of a player’s progression through each level is to gain access to enough weapon power that it’s not so much precision firing that is needed, but priority targeting to rack up multipliers. This works well with the rhythm focused introduction of enemies, as the most intense moments of the song the level is based around will also have the most opportunities to gain weapon power and make use of it.

Review: Beat Hazard 2

Ten years ago, the original Beat Hazard introduced us to the concept of fighting massive interstellar battles to the rhythm of our favorite songs. It was an outstanding game, and it didn't seem like there was any way to make it better. However, the people behind it managed to think up a number of new ideas, and Beat Hazard 2 has proven to be a bigger and better game than we could've hoped for.

Unfortunately, the tracks selected for the Daily Challenges and Lightning Challenges are occasionally from albums that feature explicit content, such as swearing, sexual lyrics, and even racial slurs. Competing in a challenge is entirely optional, but this is the biggest issue with this game.

We have to face the idea of being locked at home for a while. This is one of those moments when we appreciate gaming for sure. However, as the gamers we are, we feel like we don’t have anything to play. This happens even while having 500+ games on Steam. Not to mention other platforms.
