As soon as Beau’s vehicle pulled up the drive, Cass was out on the porch, giving him just long enough to put it in park before she ran over to him, pulling him into a tight hug. “Hey, handsome! Good lord, I’ve missed you,” she beamed up at him, her smile fading slightly and her brow furrowing with worry as she noticed he looked... off.” Pulling back, she held him at arm’s length, studying him casually, trying not to seem patronizing. “I hate to say it, Beau, but you look like you need this little outing just as much as I do.” She didn’t bother asking yet what it was that was off about him, figuring he’d tell her in his own time if he wanted to.
