#MelancholicSundayNightMusic #underworld #beaucoupfish #masterpiece @underworld 「Beaucoup Fish」がリリースされた当時は、今みたいにネットでなんでも買える状況じゃなく、都内の輸入レコ屋や中古屋を探し回ってシングルを買い漁っていた。この曲は"Push Upstairs"のシングルのみの収録。そして今回のDelux Editionにも収録。Jumboとあわせてお気に入りの曲。 リリースされた直後にはじめての海外旅行でマレーシアに行き、クアラルンプールの街で人種と宗教と文化と貧富の差が視界にすべて収まったカオスな状況を目の当たりにし、はじめて見るのに懐かしく、そしてなぜか落ち着いた気分になった。そしてすぐに心に浮かんだのがこの"Please Help Me"と"Jumbo"、そしてWilliam OrbitのPavane〜。 それからずっとこの3曲を聞きながら（当時はMDウォークマン！）クアラルンプールを徘徊し、用もないのにバスターミナルでバスに乗り込む人や大きな荷物をもって降りてくる人たちをずっと眺めていた。 今でも新大久保のカオスな状態の中にいると落ち着くし、やっぱりこの曲が聴きたくなる。きっとそういう文化や人種がごちゃ混ぜだけどバランスの取れた状態が自分にはぴったりで、そういう状態に救いを求めているのかも。とか考えてみる。 (Hatagaya, Shibuya)
