A Beautiful, Kind-Hearted Spring

Meanwhile, spring arrived — a beautiful, kind-hearted spring...

Yet to him, she was no mere shifting of the seasons. She came with footsteps light as blossom falling from the great Laurelin, a hush before the dawn, a golden thread weaving warmth through the fabric of his world. His heart had long been cold and dark, cracked and charred, but she seeped into the ruined chambers, unafraid, leaving a shimmer of light.

All that she touched came to life, the winter frosts falling away, the air trembling around her, as if the very earth sighed at her return. And he — he, who had so long been lost under the shadow — stood in her glow, awed, wary, yet watching, unable to take his gaze from her.

In her wake, the frozen edges of his spirit softened. He was not healed — not yet — but where once all had been barren, something stirred.

A seed, a whisper, the promise of something new.

He had forgotten how to hope. But hope had not forgotten him. It walked before him now, wrapped in golden light, and for the first time in an age, he dared to believe.

Beautiful Spring (春うらら)

さよなら揺れる春うらら 舞い散る花の桜咲く 玉響 夜の 河川敷 いつしか君が消えてゆく Goodbye, o swaying, beautiful spring. Dancing down, the cherry blossom flowers bloom. It's a fleeting moment at night by the riverbed. Before I know it, you’ve disappeared. 桜咲く時期が嫌いなの 変化についていけない 落ちこぼれで劣等何もない 期待 未来 全てが I hate the season when the cherry blossoms bloom. They change too quickly; I can’t keep up with them. They’re mere scraps, inferior and amounting to nothing; my hopes, the future, everything. 夢ならば良いのにと独り言 何もかも諦めた夢の跡 誰も助けてはくれないから 君一人で生きてゆけ If only this were a dream, I say to myself, the remains of all the dreams I’ve given up on. No one’s coming to save me, so go and live on your own. 例え君が消えてしまっても 何も感じはしないのだろう 許されないと願うことも 烏滸がましいようなことなのでしょ Even if you were to disappear, I doubt I’d feel anything at all. Even hoping you won’t forgive me seems presumptuous of me. 夢を願わないように 何もかもが全てが無意味に見えて 誰も居ない部屋の中 一人きりで命が浮く So that I won’t want to dream, I see anything and everything as meaningless. The answer I’ve arrived at goes right in the trash. There I go, hoping you’ll forgive me again. Even now, that girl is captive to it. 消えてしまえ何もかも もう私も世界も紛い物なの？ 何も言えずにさよなら 飽きた時に消えればいいね Everything ought to just disappear! Am I and the world both mere fakes? I give a wordless goodbye. But it might not have to be you. From that spot, you disappeared. ¹ 夢から冷めて is a pun on 夢から覚める, “to wake up from a dream.” 冷める means “to cool down” both physically and metaphorically, so the meaning here changes to “to cool down from a heated or impassioned dream.”
