This morning I was catching up with a close friend. I had to tell her a long story, mostly sad, but with a little happiness at the end.

Be kind. Do good things. Spread joy when you can. In the end that's all we have.

I feel like having a fandom oath wouldn’t be remiss. Upon a persons first initial forays into fandom they should stumble into something like:

First, do no harm: whether you are a reader, writer, or artist enjoying your blorbos - do no harm to the other fans around you. Don’t be a dick. If you don’t like the sandbox, go make your own to play in or learn to share.

Just be kind to each other, you know?

Just so you know, it’s a lot easier to hate and be rude to people around you. Being kind is something bigger. Something that might be hard sometimes. It can be difficult but it’s so important that you stay kind.
