so much was happening, it was hard to wrap his head around it. madripoor was dangerous on its own as it were. but, having kat to worry about made things harder. bucky wasn't used to taking care of others on missions, even if it had been something that had happened for years before the snap. according to kat, they had found out who the power broker was. even if bucky was skeptical and paranoid about tracking them down. but, kat had been set on repaying the favor. for karli, who had been their friend, even if their means had been dangerous. bucky understood where they were coming from. but, was it worth it?
everything had happened so fast. bullets were flying and kat was working double time to keep them from harming either one of them. sam included. but, keeping up that kind of power meant getting drained, and bucky knew better than anyone that kat wouldn't be able to keep it up for long. just as he stood up to fire back at the masked assailant, the shield had dropped for a split second and bucky prepared to be struck. instead, he hadn't felt any bullets strike him and the assailant had gotten away on their motorcycle. "what-" words were cut off as gaze found the intended target who had taken a bullet to save him.
bucky ran full speed towards the fairy, catching them before they could hit the ground as adrenaline wore off. "no, no, no. come on, babydoll. stay with us." sam was close behind, several feet away, as he tried to get a glimpse of the attacker. but, it was to no avail. "katerina, you've done plenty of stupid things. but, this might just take the cake. why? why did you do that?" hands lightly cradled their face in between them, an urgency in his voice. "you know you can't heal yourself."
