❝ Oh don’t get me started… ❞ The archer mused as he pressed his fingers to his chin in thought. ❝ I might add that some of the worst I’ve heard was from my time in the army… So many soldiers recollecting on how having children will save their relationship or how they don’t want to try anymore since falling out of love and being away for so long or to just leave the past behind you… ❞ Leon closed his eyes before pursing his lips.

❝ Ah, but what do a couple of lovesick soldiers know about romance anyhow? What is the occasion, Alm? Have you fallen for someone at last? ❞  

“...” The answer leaves him reeling, if anything. Of all the things he had expected to hear, it had been something silly, like anything that came out of Gray’s mouth. Just a topic opener, really. And yet... “That’s... pretty bad. The bad kind of bad, you know? It’s not even funny, it’s just sad.”

But of course the guy has to then turn this around on him. Oh. Well. Funny, that. “Uh. I mean, I’ve kind of been in love for a while, maybe? I just wanted to hear if you had heard something ridiculous — like ‘throw flowers at them until they like you’ or something. ... You know?” 

Maybe he should have started with a normal topic, or at least asked for one that’s funny. Anyway! “I mean, if I wanted love advice from you, I wouldn’t have asked you for the worst you had heard—! Hahaha... don’t worry about it.”

“Brother ...”

Veronica’s voice trailed off. It felt like ages since she’d last seen him. So awed by his presence, she sheds her cold demeanor and hugs him. She ignored the silly costume he was wearing. All that mattered was that they were reunited, and she had so many things she’d wanted to tell him.

“Please ... don’t leave me like that again. Did I do something to make me you despise the very sight of me? If I truly did, give me a chance. I’m ... I’m sorry ...”

Gerard looked at his boisterous companion before pointing to the other’s leg. “So that tear has been there for 3 days and you’ve just left it there? Is that it?” Gerard asked, speaking of the large tear in the other’s pants. “And that rip in your cape? And in your shirt?”

Laslow laughed as the other pulled him close, before his smile softened and he looked into the other’s eyes. “Oh truly now? You would be so willing to let ME of all people test such a thing out? That’s some trust you put into me, Owain.” He teased back, another laugh coming from him before he leaned a bit closer. “If you’re willing to trust me that much, then I have no qualms.”

They ramble, and ramble, and ramble. Kamui spent more time deciphering Odin’s oddly assembled vocabulary than actually following its. . vague coherency. But he tries, no less! With brows pressed in concentration, ears attentive, his upper body leaned forward in full readiness. A conversation so lighthearted that Kamui looked deathly serious to a jocular degree.  ` I . . see. ’  He spoke from his heart a little too well, confused, and he’s starkly aware of how rude he may come across, so he speaks again with more amiability.  

` That sounds. . Very interesting, Odin!  ’  Something something nettling void something something darkness embellishing cursed soil something something his heroism a savior of the night. He pieces together their tale, slowly.  ` No, i’m sorry. What I meant to say was. . How noble of you! Though with your magical prowess i’m not surprised you made it out alive! ’

✙ | “It’s okay, Leon. You’re more than welcome to refer to me as simply ‘Celica’.” The royal reassures, her hands clasped together in front. “Queen of Valentia I am, but I am okay with you speaking casually around me, as you did before back in our world.” Even though she is indeed treated with the utmost respect due to her position, she still encourages certain people to talk freely around her.

"You look beautiful like this." Leon says before he presses a kiss to Conrad's knuckles. He had waited through a war for this moment and it had finally arrived. "I don't know what I had done to deserve dancing with such a handsome prince, but I thank Mila for it." He smiled and laughed before he leaned up against the other, listening to his still beating heart, wanting nothing more than to sway to the rhythm. "Might we do this again? I love... your company more than words can say."

Conrad holds the other close to him as the two of them swayed back and forth. The prince couldn’t stop smiling, and for once felt like he didn’t need his mask. That he didn’t need it to spend time with Leon like this.

{CONRAD} ---- “I would love to, Leon. I’m sure we’ll have many more gatherings like this one, and I wish to go to every one with you. I really do love being with you.”

He laid his head against the other’s, letting a huff of breath leave him as he continues to hug Leon. Conrad didn’t wish for this night to end. Ever. But as long as Leon was with him, perhaps it won’t ever be truly over.

{CONRAD} ---- “Leon...”

A smile crosses the prince’s face, and he pulls the other close. Arms are wrapped around Leon and Conrad lays his head on top of the other’s, a content sigh leaving him as he did so.

{CONRAD} ---- “And I like it too. It doesn’t feel so lonely like this.”

He buries his face against the other’s hair, closing his eyes as he did so. It was comforting to be able to hold onto the other like this. To be able to just cuddle him without anyone around or any interruptions.

{CONRAD} ---- “Thank you, Leon... For just being here.”
