The former Barton Motel of Beaver, Utah now operates as the NorthPine Apartments. In later years, a second floor was added, blocking the Neilsen’s Garage sign shown in the postcard. I wonder if it’s still there, hiding behind the wall.

All that’s left of the Sleepy Lagoon Motel is the sign and a strip of rooms, after a fire destroyed a portion of the property in 2005. Located in Beaver, Utah. More information and photos here.

Last night, after our show in Provo, we decided to drive halfway to Vegas and stop in Beaver Utah and stay in a motel. We had gone almost the entire tour without paying for lodging, just relying on the kindness of friends (THANK YOU ALL YOU KIND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE THAT OFFERED US SHELTER). Also, I hadn’t showered in almost a week since leaving Dan and Nallaly’s house in San Leandro (I KNOW I AM A YUCKY GARBAGE PERSON). We looked up pricing for one room at Motel 6 and decided we could swing it.
Some two hours later, we arrived at the Motel 6 and….
NO VACANCIES.
…
We had finally decided it was ok to spend a little money on lodging but there were no vacancies to be had. Apparently Beaver UT on a Saturday night is the place to be as we also tried: 1. Super 8 2. Days Inn 3. Best Western 4. Country Inn 5. Delano Motel
AND ALL OF THEM HAD NO VACANCIES.
Kevin drove us all the way to friggin’ Beaver Utah and we were all exhausted and smelly post-show and had been so excited to have the sweet luxury of a Motel 6 room to ourselves.
BUT FINALLY, sweet beautiful merciful EconoLodge had a room for us.
I took a long ass shower and put a face mask on my face and emerged a new person. We all fell asleep to some movie on TV (Southpaw which was just Jake Gillywilly losing his shit, Rachel McAdams dies, I slept through the rest) and awoke bright eyed transformed individuals.
