"Did I say those words?"
OPEN.
"Whoa. Whoa. Why am I going to do that."
@petitsdieu asked for: 18. a kiss that draws blood.
HE HAS TASTED JOHNS'S BLOOD AS IT SPLATTERED ONTO HIS FACE AND HE HAS TASTED HIS OWN BLOOD AS IT POOLED, TANGY, IN HIS MOUTH. Tasting Johns made him feel powerful but not lucid. He was not himself. He became who he needed to be to help the real Beck heal; nobody else was going to do it. He enacted brutality against a wrongdoer in order to show Homelander he was capable of the hard, necessary things.
When he tasted his own blood, years prior, he was weak and small and contained by his makers. Tricked into submission out of necessity, then beaten into it for the sake of treating him like all of the others. Consistency. Coeus protocol.
He is not thinking about these things. He does not think about these things. Having Angel Lung like this, now, when he thought she was too upset and disappointed to ever hear words from him again—he is so deliriously grateful that he paws, over-eager and a little rough. He pants as he kisses her, whole body shuddering from the raw gratefulness and relief, for one thing—the anticipation for another.
He doesn't mean to get so mouthy, so Super-passionate, that he busts Angel Lung's lower lip.
She reacts—a princess's version of a distraught, shocked curse. (Is she already wondering how Beck managed to make a Supe bleed, too? This feels more sacredly intimate and revealing than nudity.) Then, he tastes her. He tastes her irrefutably. The blood is eager to bead up and spill against his mouth, no matter how quickly he jerks his head back.
He thinks of Johns. He thinks of himself as a little boy: the Beck he tried to save.
He thinks about how many times he's told her he doesn't want to hurt her, would never hurt her.
Solar Flare reaches up to cup the sides of her face, then decides he doesn't deserve it—and knows that he couldn't live with himself if he recoiled.
Looking down at her, shuddering, he feels like a monster. He feels wretchedly, wholly bad.
What will Angel Lung say to him now?
@petitsdieu said: you said we could watch a movie.
"I know."
Angel Lung—Angel Lung?—should understand that things come up. Important things.
The people they want to save—aren't they more important than the two of them could ever be to each other?
Somewhere in here, he still wants to be good. He still has ideals. Some illusions haven't been shattered, and some things are still worth fighting for.
Plus, she's taught him a lot. Not everything. But—enough.
He's getting changed. He can't wear these boxers with his Supe-r suit.
"It will not take me a long time," he assures her. "It should not. But when I am back, you can show me your movie. I want to watch your movie."

"I can only blame myself."

SOLAR FLARE IS EASILY DISTRACTED.
"You have seen me on the news?"

❛ Watch it. You are over stepping. ❜

IF SOME SORT OF FUNERAL OR MEMORIAL SERVICE IS HELD IN THE STATES FOR BLOODBOILER, THE SEVEN ARE KIND OF OBLIGATED TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE.
Sadly.
"I am sorry."
