we can do memory lane another night. from cassie.
oh, june wants to pry even further. she wants to investigate, ask about how she and dean came to falling out years ago, dean who only learned to sweep his feelings under the rug is impossible to pry open information from, no matter the threat of history and familial ties. most of all, she wanted to know how cassie is; june really enjoyed her. there's a determined stubborn edge to her that june appreciated. when she and dean were together, she could see the sharpness of dean start to wear down, the crinkles in his eyes when he laughed because of her were genuine. perhaps he could have settled down, and got out of the game entirely with her.
but as cassie put it: we can do memory lane another night. june is terrible at masquerading the longing expression that takes to her features, but she does her best to steel her resolve otherwise. their reunion is brought on by unfortunate circumstances, a new lead on a haunting case that cassie has found. "yeah, you're right," june chuckles, almost awkwardly to desperately brush past the small talk and jump into it. "you said you might have something? like our kind of something?"
