Red
It was the color Bed saw everywhere, everything reminded him of Tomato now. A red bird flies past and all Bed can think of is how much Tomato would love it. Red, it encompassed Tomato as a whole, his hair, his face after he got flustered, his shirts, even down to his channel icon.
Bed loved Tomato with his whole heart. He got him a red teddy bear for Valentine's Day. Matching devil costumes for halloween, ugly red sweaters for Christmas. Everything they did together was red, pure love.
He never thought red could so easily go from his favorite color to his most hated. From the red car, the red splotches dotting Jared’s clothes all the way to the red pouring from the gashes on his body. Tanner ignored the red on his own body and focused only on the red he felt inside his heart as he held Jared’s hand while they were wheeled into the red ambulance.
Tanner loved Jared more than anything and red would forever be ingrained in his mind. Flashbacks to the days he spent at the beach with Jared watching the red sunset, the red pandas at the zoo, the red balloons Jared got Tanner for his birthday, the red roses Keenan had delivered to Jared’s hospital bed.
Tanner hated red, the red tie tucked into Jared’s suit as he laid in the warm, brown coffin. He even hated the red carnations gently grasped in his pale hands. Tanner never wanted to see Jared in red again.
Red, red, red. It was all Tanner ever saw anymore. Everywhere he looked he saw Jared, it was maddening.
Red, Tanner’s favorite color.
