I fell in love with bed jackets, or sheer robes which is basically all they really are, when I lived in Chicago, and the summer evenings were so humid, but I still felt like I needed to have a jacket with me. They remind me of old, elegant women who lounged around their huge houses all day and entertained whoever dropped by. I don't know if that really happened, but I'm going to continue to think about bed jackets as though it did because it makes me like them more. No judgies. Basically, they're sheer robes that you wear outside, and I'm okay with that.
These are honestly best found in thrift and second-hand shops. You can also find them in the lingerie section of places like TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Nordstrom Rack! Occasionally, a retailer will have them for sale - like this floral one from ASOS or this pretty watercolor bed jacket from Piperlime. My favorite way to wear these: over a t-shirt and jeans. Seriously! I do admit, adding some seriously kickass heels and an "I couldn't be bothered" topknot does add a bit...
