I GOT MY BACHELOR'S OF SCIENCE DEGREE TODAY WITH A PERFECT SCORE FOR MY THESIS! A few months ago I asked you guys who'd be willing to be a test user for my graduation project, which was for my thesis, and with a small group of you I've basically done a bunch of interviews, exercises and brainstorms, which resulted in this (Desktop) site: tocomehome.com!

It's a community for disabled young people to find mobility aids for home use. The thing is; every tool is recommended by a real disabled person, who can add a reason why they think the tool is helpful as well as share links for purchasing. You can follow users with your disability, react to their reviews, save your favourite items to a wishlist and recommend handy tools yourself. It's still very much a prototype, hence why there's no mobile version yet, but I wanted to share it. I'm also officially a software engineer now - I accepted a job offer. :D Proof that life keeps on moving forward. Carrying you on its back, if it must.

May I just say, doing an official Disney Quiz based on how alike you are to Moana percentage wise and getting 100% really comforted me. If anyone remember my post about how Moana and Auli’i helped me, and the kind of identity crisis I’d had that they’d helped with...yeah, this quiz and the fact that my sister once told me my fish hook necklace suits me...

I am becoming more comfortable regarding my decision.

♡ things about people's bodies that i admire (as someone with a physical disability who cannot relate) ⌁ the way you take your steps so easily. you want to go somewhere and you lift your foot and put it down and move without too much thought or being Overly Aware of how to do it? that's so cool

⌁ when you move not just individual fingers but bend them a certain way. how fluid your movements are. also how much control you have. you're telling me you pick up a plastic cup like no problem and you never accidentally squeeze or put too much pressure?

⌁ typing with ten fingers. again, hello???? you can move ALL of them individually like that? and so fast? huh?????

⌁ rushing down stairs is insane to me because you just keep your balance and also watch your step and also move your legs that fast

⌁ nothing is impossible. you button the world's smallest buttons. then you walk to a cafe and order something in a full cup and carry it to a table without spilling, then you write on paper with a pen for more than 3 seconds at a time and the strokes come out exactly as you intend and that’s a regular day for you!!

⌁ you speak to people and have no problems with the muscles in and around your lips. you probably don’t even think about them. they don’t pull to the side or jerk when you pronounce your vowels – they’re as fluid as your fingers (amazing) and people take your words seriously because of this

you have a lot to appreciate, just as I have a lot to admire in you ♡

Maybe someone in astrology could explain this, but I’m at a really odd intersection in my life when it comes to work, friends and my home (so basically everything, lol) and it’s exhausting and scary. but other than that I’m also back to writing fiction, new mother to a plant (a green philodendron imperial!) and I saw BTS in concert the other day, so I’m luckier than most.

GUYS. Remember last year, when I posted about interviews for my grad internship? And then when I told you about getting the one I wanted most? Well, during that internship I was one of three developers for a project for the National Gallery in London and it finally launched yesterday! So you should totally check it out and know that slfcare (your favorite girly in stem) built part of it 😵‍💫🤍

CALL TO ARMS: Important, please read!

So I’ve been trying to get more original and awesome content on my YouTube channel the past few weeks, right? Well, the main reason being simple: I always need money. Like, always. With my beautiful and absolutely worth it bouncing Bumblebee (my car), I good chunk of my income goes into his insurance and payments. It’s easy to keep up even with my one job, but only thanks to my generous parents whom I am still with; even then, I have to be careful not to be too loose with my money. Though my parents have been not-so-subtly hinting me to save up so I can one day move out, so far I’m good.

That’s why I’m trying to get some traction going on my channel—so I can have it as a simple, mostly-easy, stay-at-home means of bolstering my bank account. There’s just one small hitch, though...

I can’t receive any payments of the revenue I have been accumulating until I pass the $100 threshold. So, the reason I say all of this is because I have a request to ask of any and all who are reading this now. Though I am open for art commissions, if you don’t have the money to buy art from me...go to my YouTube Channel—BioNichole1—and watch my videos, like them (if you do like them), leave comments, share them with friends/family/followers.

I don’t aim to be quite like Mark and Jack, who do this stuff for a living; but, I do really enjoy it, as it gives me a fun outlet for my creativity whilst also giving life to my Channel. Plus, when I look at my channel, it actually has Mark and Jack listed as Related Channels, but that may just be because we make similar videos, and I like and comment on their stuff a lot. X3

But seriously, if you would like to help me out but don’t have the money, this would be an excellent alternative. The more attention–likes, views, comments, subscribes–my channel gets, the more revenue it generates and, eventually, the more money I can receive.

Please consider it, though; it would mean a lot to me.
