Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Though they'e not as famous as their namesakes, bee-flies are pretty fly! The group is named for their resemblance to bees, as most species have fuzzy black and yellow bodies. Many bee-flies also have a long, sharp-looking proboscis, but instead of stinging they are used for collecting nectar, either by reaching down into the base or stabbing directly through the bottom of the flower.
