Not to get too personal here, but my Grandfather saw his brother shot to death by accident by a neighbor boy when they were all under 6years old. (1930s Edmonton. Handgun.)
In adulthood my Grandfather ran a farm and hunted game. And guess what? He kept the guns (only rifles) in a locked cabinet (also locked within that) in the basement and he kept the bullets locked in a cabinet IN ANOTHER BUILDING on the property.
Like... maybe we just grew up with more of an awareness of gun safety because of what happened, but I really believe there is no excuse for anything less.
