as much as i loved beef s2, what i wouldn't give to see what happened after the s1 finale with danny and amy... god ill never experience the highs and lows and absolute love i felt for s1 of beef. absolute masterpiece
Ok SO! I just finished beef both seasons and here’s what I have to say
Spoilers Below!!
Well first of all I’m kinda sad… I know it’s not supposed to be a perfect ending and it very much wasn’t that but I am not doing very well about this ending. I wasn’t rooting for Austin and Eunice but I did want the younger couple to split up and they didn’t, I was a teeny tiny bit rooting for Josh and Lindsey (even tho i shouldn’t have been) and when they kissed I was like Yay! But I do think that them not staying together would be the best . Overall I really enjoyed watching both seasons!
One thing season one and two do not have in common is the intensity in theirs “beefs”. Season ones was more final and hateful and ruthless. While season 2s was more petty and underlying in the show but I think that’s because they are different types of beefs.
I think what the really meaning behind the beefs is the person that you’ll forever be tethered to whether it be in love or in loathing. In season 1 we had Danny and Amy’s road rage started battle tha allowed them to have an outlet for their madness a person who hated them equally. And by the end we realize the hatred is coming from a place of hurt they both share and are equal in. And they have found their person the one who will always be there whether good or bad.
And in season 2 I’d say the really BEEF was definitely Lindsay and Josh. In the beginning (pre show) they were each others person for love then it eventually turned into hate, which is the state we see them in at the beginning of the show so tethered to each other and not wanting to leave even tho they can’t stand each other and are noting each and every thing they do that pisses them off. Wanting a divorce but at the same time not wanting to let each other go.
While there may be other beefs in the show, the one between the two couples, and the one between Josh and Ashley. I think Josh and Lindsey’s mirror our season one beef the most, showing how no matter what your person will be your person.
So with that being my theory I do have some notes…
If Lindsay and Josh show what being with YOUR person long tims could mean I wonder if Danny and Amy will ever return to that place of hatred again? Maybe it would be because they can see each other’s flaws like no one else can and it would create a place of resentment.
Since I view the beefs as your person I’m not really sure if I like the ending as them being complacent. I would have wish we were still on the roller coaster of love and hate to round off the story. That could look like: something else happening to make Lindsey and Josh hate each other or even if it become more of an obsession thing anything to leave the story open. I’m not really sure. But them not being In each others life at all really doesn’t sit right with me.
Why I don’t think Austin and Ashley were the Real BEEF.
One thing that sets them apart from Josh & Lindsey and Danny & Amy is Passion. The biggest problem with their relationship is that they didn’t have any and I feel like the passion is such a big part of the beef that It doesn’t make sense for the passion-less couple to be the main beef.
So um I think that’s all I have to say for now I could probably write a get paragraphs about each character if anyone asked tho…
