Oh man
#99: “We’re in an abandoned lodge in the middle of nowhere. Sure, you’re totally right, nothing bad could ever happen here.”
“We’re in an abandoned lodge in the middle of nowhere. Sure, you’re totally right, nothing bad could ever happen here.”“Do I detect a hint of sarcasm?” Beef said. “Anyway, it’s better to be inside than out there with all the scary… monsters.”“There are no monsters out there, don’t say that!” Pause’s face turned to an expression of fear and he closed the curtains on the lodge’s window. “C’mon man, don’t make me even more scared.”
The night came too quickly, and Pause and Beef settled down in the lodge’s only bed to try and sleep through the windy night. It was cold, and Pause shivered under the sheets, trying to get warm. He was still terribly afraid of what the night held.“Beef,” he said after a while, finally realising why it was so cold. “I think the window’s open.”“Alright, go shut it then,” Beef mumbled.“Why do I have to - ““Because you’re closer to the window.”Pause huffed. “Fine.”He got up out of the bed, shivering. The floor was rough and Pause could practically feel all the splinters he was getting. The bedroom’s window was too high up to reach, so Pause climbed up onto a chair against the wall. It wobbled as he stood on it.Reaching up to close the window, Pause felt something lightly brush against his hand before something came fast at his face. He saw the monstrous creature for a second before he was screaming, falling backwards off the chair. Fearing certain death from the creature or from breaking his back, Pause was surprised when his landing was cushioned by arms around him. Beef stumbled back at the weight of Pause.“Oof man, you’re heavy.” Beef uprighted Pause.“THE THING, IT’S STILL IN HERE.”“Thing?” Beef chuckled softly, going to the bed to pull a blanket from it.“The.. The.. the monster. It flew at me!”Pause turned towards Beef, afraid.“Monster. Pause, you realise that was just a bat?”“….oh.”Beef laughed, looking around the room to see where the small animal had gone. It was flying around madly, hitting against walls.“C’mon, let’s rescue that poor creature, then you can actually close the window.”“And then sleep.”Beef nodded. “Then sleep.”
