Hey guys, I'm Becca! I am a sophomore Creative Writing and Digital Media major with a Theatre minor. I work at the front desk of the VUCA as well as for an organization called Young Chicago Authors downtown.
In terms of social media, it's what I live and breathe. I am always on top of my Twitter and Instagram game because I would love to be a social media/marketing coordinator one day. ((@beegriz is my handle on insta and twitter))
I am really excited for this class because, being such an active user of social media, I have a lot of opinions on internet freedom and censorship. I'm really excited to learn more about it and hear the rest of your thoughts on the subjects. After watching the Wesch video, I can tell that this semester is going to hold a lot of good discussions on how our format of writing has morphed the writing itself. I definitely agree that HTML made the structure and the composition one entity, but I think this is true for a lot of online media. The tags in a tumblr post can be part of the post, as can the hashtags on a Twitter post and the comments on a Facebook status. Writing has become collaborative and multifaceted through media.
Looking forward to a good semester with y'all.
