Oscar drew back only slightly, just enough to rest his forehead against Lando’s, his breath unsteady. “Still afraid?” he murmured.

Lando’s voice trembled. “Yes… but not of you.” Oscar closed his eyes. And in that moment, there was no wedding, no court, no queen.

Just the prince, the servant, and the impossible space between them..slowly being closed with every whispered breath.

Lando’s lashes fluttered as the warmth of the kiss faded from his lips, replaced by a tense silence. His fingers still rested on Oscar’s arm, though his grip loosened. He tilted his head slightly, just enough to look down his nose at Oscar, the usual coldness creeping back into his expression.. his shield. His defense.

“That was… tolerable,” he muttered, breath uneven despite the words. “For a servant.”
