Sunday Funday: the Silver Sandal
I’m probably going to end up only doing this twice a month, because these posts take a lot of energy, and it seems like a bit much to me to pick a new item to bash every week. In any case, this week’s winner isn’t so much a plus size item as it is a wide width shoe. But there’s some overlap, so why not?
SimplyBe Buckle Mule Sandals in Silver
What is it with this silver Birkenstock/generic ripoff? Why do I see it from every wide width shoe retailer, every summer? Is this shoe really that popular? Are wide-footed women busting down the virtual doors of these websites to purchase this unremarkable silver sandal? What is its mystique? What is its power? Don’t get me wrong, I like a good Birkenstock and/or generic ripoff. In fact, I have a pair that I purchased from eBay for $40, back when I had enough money to justify spending $40 on a single pair of shoes. They are some of the most uncomfortable sandals I’ve ever owned in my life, I don’t understand why anyone calls Birkenstocks comfortable, the arch is a million miles high, and that cork insole is like walking on bare pavement. But they look cute, so I put up with them. I might give Birkenstocks a second chance if I ever have money again, but I will be exclusively shopping the styles with that fabric coated insole. You can bet I won’t be buying these silver mules, though.
Here is a picture of the hateful sandals in question:
Beautiful, but deadly.
