one of my best friends, Janet (aka gold molar)!
we used to both live in Michigan, and one day we were walking down the street talking about life + our city at the time. as we approached some particular intersection, they said something to the effect of ‘when i die, i’m going to end up right back here, at the corner of Portage and Vine’ (or whatever streets they were).
i feel like maybe she was talking about this feeling that you never completely escape where you come from, that you carry still it wherever else you go... but my memory’s pretty fuzzy, and even then i feel like their idea morphed into something quite different in my brain in the year or two since. but that one thing stuck with me, i guess.
