Beeshade lost both of his parents as well as his sister, Sleekchase, when he was still fairly young, and often had to rely on his remaining sister, Bramblebillow. They became very close as a result, but Beeshade found it difficult to feel connected to the clan throughout his life. A lot of the time it was just the two of them against the world as far as he was concerned.
His attitude changed when he began to develop feelings for Tumblecreek, one of Skystar's kits. Connection to the clan was very important to Tumblecreek, and he valued his father's opinions. Beeshade would deny ever trying to gain his leader's favor through extra work around camp, but he did want to make sure he seemed like a loyal clanmate. Little by little he found opportunities to talk to Tumblecreek, and by the time they had each grown up a lot they agreed to become mates.
Beeshade and Tumblecreek enjoyed a loving bond for several years, and were thrilled to be blessed with a litter of kits. Soon after they were born, Beeshade's old wounds sent him into an early retirement. He found it difficult to be too sad about this with all of his time now free to devote to his rambunctious children. It also helped that his sister, Bramblebillow, had also retired only a few weeks earlier.
Although Beeshade enjoyed his retirement, the swirling drama of the mediators' den inevitably attracted his attention. First it was his son, Belugafleck, training as a mediator. Then Bramblebillow volunteered to become a mediator as well in order to look out for him. Eventually, though, Beeshade found himself spending so many late nights talking through dipolmatic concerns and petty arguments that he gave in and joined as well. He was already getting on in years, but helping his kin put important issues to rest was a worthy cause.
Beeshade never had a chance to become a fully trained mediator, but his advice was appreciated by his clanmates nonetheless. He was best at spinning inspirational stories that were loosely based on clan history. Kits and apprentices were often huddled around him, but occasionally he would attract a few adult listeners too.
The whole clan was surprised when Beeshade suddenly succumbed to yellowcough. It had only been a few days since his sister, Bramblebillow, had also died after an illness. Beeshade was glad that he was able to join her in Starclan, but being separated from his mate and kits was deeply painful. He could only hope that he would be able to guide them properly from so far away.
