❌ The Honeycomb ❌ I just thought I'd share a close up of the piece I introduced in yesterday's video! This honeycomb box necklace was my take on this month's #metalsmithchallenge and I couldn't be happier to have put my skills on test! The most challenging part was probably creating a closing mechanism 🙈 you guys know when you have super clear in your mind what should work, but then in reality it doesn't?! 😂 So, after about 10 failed tries, I came up with that little hinged hook with 3 amber beads dangling below like spilling honey drops 🍯. One very fun part of this piece was making the little hexagon amber cab! A few months ago I dropped one of my oval amber cabs and.. of course it chipped - 😭! Broken hearted I just put it aside hoping to find a use for it one day. And yesterday I got this idea that maybe I could turn the cab into a different shape!
