❌ The Honeycomb ❌ I just thought I'd share a close up of the piece I introduced in yesterday's video! This honeycomb box necklace was my take on this month's #metalsmithchallenge and I couldn't be happier to have put my skills on test! The most challenging part was probably creating a closing mechanism 🙈 you guys know when you have super clear in your mind what should work, but then in reality it doesn't?! 😂 So, after about 10 failed tries, I came up with that little hinged hook with 3 amber beads dangling below like spilling honey drops 🍯. One very fun part of this piece was making the little hexagon amber cab! A few months ago I dropped one of my oval amber cabs and.. of course it chipped - 😭! Broken hearted I just put it aside hoping to find a use for it one day. And yesterday I got this idea that maybe I could turn the cab into a different shape! ❌ The Swallowtail Butterfly ❌ My pride and joy. Usually I'm not tempted to keep the jewelry I make for myself. But this one makes an exception. Maybe because of that stone. Maybe for the happiness of finally completing this design smoothly. Maybe I just love it for no rational reason. But I've decided that it wouldn't be fair for you to just keep it for myself. So I'll upload it on the shop on Monday together with all the other pieces. And if it doesn't find a home within the first couple days, I'll have to keep it...
