What’s Coming is Better Than What is Gone!
The reliance on social media has to be one of the most daunting things to have emerged within our lifetime, but as it stands there is simply no way of avoiding it’s influence. It baffles me that so many people still aren’t willing to accept it’s appearance in our lives due to the fact that change and the advance in technology probably scares them. I have learnt that Social media can be such a beautiful thing when utilised in the right way and I think that’s why I feel so strongly about teaching people how to use their platforms in a positive way.
My interest in social media sprouted when I delved into realms of fashion at University and from there I began to notice the vital changes within the fashion industry, such as how it is advertised and how it is modelled to consumers. A lot of brands have developed their methods by using the power of influencers and bloggers to showcase their products. Now, If this is something you don’t know about, it is a really interesting and extremely clever concept that you need to read about! Social media influencers are individuals who have established credibility in a specific industry, has access to a huge audience and can persuade others to act based on their recommendations. However, it is a lot more complex than that … there are different types of Influencers (Nano, Micro, Macro) and influencers who specialise in fashion, fitness and even travel and influencers who don’t just use Instagram! The world of influencers is just endless. The world of influencers is so enormous that I even wrote my dissertation surrounding this exact subject … I tell you, it’s a hell of a read!
I think the purpose of this first blog post is to generate a more open mind towards social media and how influencers and brands utilise it. The front of social media platforms such as Instagram are probably very negative and I feel as if people are beginning to alienate them from society just like our traditional celebrities. When you look deeper into what these individuals are actually doing and how influencing works, it’s actually a really clever occupation and beneficial to us all whether you like it or not. I absolutely love my job and I feel as if I am extremely lucky that I get to build relationships with these individuals. Influencers are here to inspire you and give you genuine recommendations and I love that I get to see whats behind the camera when working with these incredible people.
So … one bit of advice from me:
Embrace this new world of social media.
