Well do you? Nope, I didn’t think so. You know those first moments in a morning are crucial to how your day pans out! When we allow ourselves a moment or two of calm. A moment to gather our thoughts, a moment to have the three B’s. Brew, breath, brain download we set our days up on the right path. That’s why this morning I decided to take a leaf out of @creativsas book and be #sassynotsorry It was early the kids were still in bed so I jumped in the hot tub for a moment while I drank my lemon water. It was bliss. Then the kids woke up. But instead of stressing about it. I turned on the cartoons, made them some breakfast and carried on with my morning groove. Just thought id pop on to let you know I’m still alive. This time off the socials is hard when you are trying to build a community. When you has a passion for what you do. When you have a million things you need to say. I’ve been working away in the background though. Creating content to go out to share my mission, to share my passion and most importantly to help you. Embracing imperfect, Admitting when we made a mistake and owning it. That’s not weakness. That’s strength. Thats growth. I spoke about perfection or rather embracing imperfections in my talk last week at bee inspired. You know a lot of times the reason we get overwhelmed is because we are striving to be perfect. Perfect in the eyes of others. Perfect like we see others. Perfect where we’ve set our own bar somewhere unachievable. We wait for the perfect time, the perfect moment to start on our goals, to start living life to the fullest. Don’t! Don’t wait! This time last week I was waking up in a hotel room. Away from my whole family for longer than I’ve been away since I was in hospital. You know you have visions of spending the night in a hotel room having a long bath, watching crappy tv, ordering room service, then sleeping forever. Yeh. Reality was I was anxious to be away from my kids, I was anxious about stepping on that stage, I felt vulnerable not having people who have known my anxiety triggers. But I did it. Yes I had a panic. But there were new friends that had my back. I had a little sleep and I did have a bath with no kids trying to use the toilet. But it wasn’t “perfect” Life never is is it? But it’s about “embracing those messy imperfect moments. Appreciating them as beautiful and going with the flow of life” The Japanese have a word for this. Wabi-sabi. So go do the things anyway. A few weeks ago I was rehearsing my talk I fluffed the words. I thought I’m never going to remember it on the day. Three weeks ago I got in the middle of two dogs fighting it’s made quite a mess of my arm. My first thought was oh god that’s going to look awful for bee inspired. Then covid was too close for comfort one child tested positive I had to skip my hair appointment to go and get pcr tests. Eugh I thought my hair won’t be perfect when I speak. Then there was some mix up with the tests. Oh god I thought what happens if I can’t go and give my talk. Then each day I’ve done a lateral flow with anxiety incase it’s a positive. But now I’m actually having a slight panic that actually I will have to remember my talk. I will have to get up there. The path this past few weeks has been wobbly, imperfect and bloody emotional. I’m sure my talk will be the same. Join me in all my imperfectness at bee inspired 3 sleeps time. What a bank holiday weekend. What a summer. It’s not been perfect. It’s had its moments. But we’ve been together. We have each other. We’ve hardly done anything to be honest. It’s been good. Just to get some rest in. Just to take some time to decompress. Sometimes that’s enough right? Anyway today is the last day of having kids at home. Tomorrow the first day of all 4 kids at school. I’m feeling all the feels today. I nipped in the hot tub we hired for the little twins birthday. A quiet moment just to breath. Just to have a moment of calm. Before getting things ready for tomorrow. Just remember, it’s ok for things not to be perfect. It’s ok if you’ve not got all of thier uniform fully ironed, named etc. as long as you have one for the first day, then once you have a moment of calm then you can do some more. It’s ok for things not to be perfect. You don’t have to take those “back to school” photos for Insta.
