Can you elaborate on why you’re a little iffy on Sonic: BTS and ATS? Also looking forward to seeing you finish Unleashed!
I’ve never really been able to elaborate, actually. Something about those games just fails to click with me.
I’ve considered the possibilities a few times. The closest I’ve come to narrowing things down is:
I don’t think there’s a terrific consideration for Sonic as a character. BTS and ATS feel very “throw spaghetti at the wall and see if it sticks” games. LakeFepard gives Sonic some Kirby powers, things that feel like they harken to games like Klonoa, references to Stunt Race FX, etc.
It’s very creative, the art is good, the music is good, there’s a decent amount of polish, but it just doesn’t feel entirely like it gels. They’re pieces of good games, but they don’t fit together in an elegant way.
And it’s not just, like, taking things from other games that does it, either, I mean there’s original ideas in there that just don’t feel entirely sound, either.
It creates a game that always feels a little “off.”
