8 Moses also said, “You will know that it was the Lord when he gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the Lord.”
10 While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the glory of the Lord appearing in the cloud.
11 The Lord said to Moses, 12 “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’”
If you want your children to be happy and healthy; teach them how to find their sense of purpose. What are they good at; what do they like to do; what are they interested in. When are they at their happiest.
This is not quick or simple; but if you practice observation; encouragement; and gentle guidance to new experiences; teach them to value themselves and respect others. Teach them that co-operation is the most productive way to live and find peace. Let them explore; try different things; be themselves.
Children change over time as they mature and learn; but I believe, everyone is born with their "essential" self and that is the core of every person.
Allow your children find the place they feel comfortable and where they are at their most productive and happy.
Encourage them to experience things that at first they may find uncomfortable or are a little afraid of (e.g. public speaking) when they are ready. Children mature differently so it's a judgement call as to when your children are ready. They will know in their heart when they are ready.
