Does anybody here live in the general Oakland/Berkeley CA area and have an old spare dresser, bed, or window curtain they don't want anymore and would be willing to give to somebody else? My family could use one.
My family's car won't start and will need to be towed. It looks like my computer's power cord may be on its way out too. This is not a good time for this, we're down to $28 in my mom's bank account, another $36 on our EBT card, and a very small emergency savings (less than $300) I have! I have no idea how much the car repairs are going to be, but I guarantee if you drop a small donation into my Paypal or Venmo it won't be wasted!
Bit of a situation here again. My mom recently received a check, we were counting on it to pay our rent and bills this month and made financial decisions in the expectation of having that money, and it seems to have been misplaced or otherwise somehow lost. We can't find it and don't have enough money in the bank to pay the rent, and the rent is due today (6/1).
Also, I thought our CalFresh problem was fixed, but I guess not; our card has been down to less than $2 for a week now, so food may also be a problem.
I'm hoping she can get a replacement check sent, but 1) that's not certain, 2) it would probably take at least a week or so. We could really use at least $300 fast to cover the rent (and some more for food). If we manage to get a replacement check afterward, believe me, the money won't be wasted on us; we have a lot of deferred purchases of furniture, cooking equipment, clothing, etc..
If anybody could drop a few donations into my Paypal or Venmo to help cover this, that would be really helpful. Anything you can spare would help. Reblogging this to spread it around would also help.
I don't like to beg for money again, especially so soon, but my family's car just broke down and it looks like we're going to need $300 for a new battery. That's literally more money than my mom has in the bank right now, though she has an additional small emergency savings she can dip into. If you could drop a donation into my Paypal or Venmo, that'd be really nice and really helpful. Reblogging this to spread it around would also help.
It looks like my family's CalFresh money has been discontinued or denied. I have no idea why, and it's been impossible to get through to an actual person. I guess we'll just have to reapply? In the mean time, if anybody could drop a donation into my Paypal or Venmo, that'd be really helpful. Reblogging this to spread it around would also be helpful, especially if you're a "power user" (read: your posts get more than a handful of responses on average).
Update on my situation:
The good news: it looks like we will be able to get a replacement check.
The bad news: if we don't pay the rent by the 5th we have to pay a $50 late fee, and I doubt the check will arrive before that. $300 in donations would save us from that, so far I've gotten about $80 (thanks a bunch, everything helps!), here are links to my Paypal and Venmo if anyone else wants to help us out. Alternately, my mom thinks she might be able to get a loan from a friend.
It's 11 days since my family's CalFresh card was supposed to have loaded, it still hasn't been loaded (it's got $0 on it), we have no idea what's going on and so far our case worker hasn't responded to our (multiple) attempts to contact her. If anybody could drop a little donation into my PayPal or Venmo, that'd be really helpful! Reblogging this to spread it around would also help.
