Seeing the reaction, Ryan responding to the scene and freezing the world out like a natural reaction, it started to make sense.

They each, in their own way, had a strange brand of 'zen' in how they dealt with life and everything it came with. Danny, like water, briefly surging forth but flowing onward. Ryan, like ice, locking everything in a sort of stasis as to prevent any oncoming damage.
