It took awhile for me to completely wrap my head around this concept… (John3:16) Why? Because growing up I was wired in a way that good works will get me to heaven. Though I learned about JESUS, the cross and all, you are still required to do the work. I still remember how I was so petrified about the thought of death. Wondering like, at what age would I no longer be considered as child & no longer deemed innocent to enter heaven? Isn’t that disturbing how I think in such young age?! Fast forward to being “born again”, it was hard for me to grasp the idea that I don’t have to punish myself everytime I make mistakes & that I will NEVER lose my Salvation. So here’s my simple analogy: A “LOVING” father (or mother) will not require you to measure up in order for him to love you. Neither will he force you to love him back. But when you BELIEVE that he is your father, & you repent & willingly accept his love, that’s when you receive the gift, “Salvation”. And because you love him, you would CHOOSE to do the things that pleases him. Remember, doing good does not determine his love for you. He knows you will stumble & fall. But It will never change his love for you. GOD expressed His love for us by sending JESUS (who is GOD in human flesh) to die on cross for us. He paid our sin debt in full! All we need to do is to accept Him as LORD & SAVIOR.
