Random kid: so you work with lots of different wildlife?

Me: yes, echidnas, snakes, tassie devils, kangaroos, cockatoos, bats.

Random kid: how many times have you been bitten?

Me: lots from baby joeys that I'm trying to feed who sometimes bite down on my thumb instead of the teat. But only 3 animals have ever bitten me hard enough to break skin.

Random kid: which ones? Was it scary?

Me: I've only been bitten by; a wild Sugar Glider I was trying to health check, a captive male Bandicoot I was holding down while someone else medicated him and by my 18 month old nephew because we were playing.

Random kid: ....

Random Kids mum: yeah that sounds about right

Lucille had immediately backed off as she had felt the pain, letting go of the water soaked fabric and held the now bleeding wound. Questioning she looked at the man infront of her. The choir woman had told him to be aware that it would burn. An infected wound had to be cleaned and it was never pleasent to do such a thing. Still no one could have told her that the man would actually bite her.

There was always a risk in helping others, even more when they acted completely different from what she had thought or his a secret she came to close to. 

Biting her lip, she removed her hand and eyed the wound for a moment before taking a deep breath. The brown haired steped forward again to pick up the piece of cloth, washing it out in a seperate bowl of water. Moving a little more carefully now.
