Terry Silver Travel Headcanons
- Paris ― It is a given that Terry has been to Paris countless times throughout his life, in part as a staple and statement of wealth, class and privilege, purely to do it and get it off of his bucket list of things as many times as he could --- which he indeed has, more times than he could keep count of to the point that if asked, he pretty much shrugs Paris off like something that’s pretty much a given at this point. Possible he found the whole affair vastly overrated and he perhaps internally approaches the whole city with a bit of a cynical chagrin due to the fact that it bears the moniker of the city of style, light, fashion and love and his sense of American exceptionalism kicks in at times and he is indeed slightly pissed off (and maybe even envious) that any place outside of the US gets to bear some many titles in a superlative. Then again, I always did headcanon, that lets say, his mother used to adore Paris, so he does have a soft spot for it, if only because of her, but that’s an extensive topic.
- London ― Maybe the only city outside The States he frequently, well, frequents. It is as familiar and safe feeling to Terry as it can get, with the same language, approximately the same habits and more or less the same mentality compared to the rest of the world at large, and it is probably his most commonplace travel turf, to the point he often doesn’t even consider it travel and rather puts it into the category of commute. That is, if commute included private Jetting across the Pacific Ocean, which, when you’re as rich as Terry doesn’t even appear all that strange to think or say. Can see that he met and employed Margaret Spencer during one of his many back and forth to London back in the 80′s or maybe even beforehand, in the late 70′s and as years passed, his fondness for the place, again, was explicitly heightened due to his, by then, deceased private assistant who he always had fond memories of in the years to follow, even she was no longer among the living. Terry’s devotion manifests in many ways, naturally.
- Berlin ― A city he most probably associates with business, chemical off-shore Dynatox labs, foreign scientists in his employ, nuclear research facilities and overall not a place he visits out of pleasure a much as the corporate needs of his firm and to occasionally overseer the comings and goings of his overseas branches in the area and state of the art underground offices. But, then again, for Terry, overseeing his conglomerate is pleasure, alongside the unannounced, sudden inspection of warehouses that has all of his workers on pins and needles because they’d never expect he’d visit them when he does, in the most impromptu of senses, because Terry doesn’t want it to be known just when he’ll pop in as he goes about scrutinizing his workers. Controlling them. Testing them. Spying on them, if need be. Enjoying them scrabbling about, nervous, fidgety and anxious for his absolute sadistic delight. He lives for that crap. The sheer powerplay of being in charge. Far more stimulating than any vacation.
- Rome ― Rome suited Terry from an aesthetic point of view and he found himself feeling some sort of way surrounded by all those tall, sculpted, marble bodies, the monoliths, the impossible antique columns, the carved muscles, the artistic nudity and the entrancement of rapture, with stone fingers gripping flesh as realistically as human meat. The gods in stone. I imagine he felt he’s right where he should be, in a roundabout way, surrounded by visions he felt viscerally connected to. Felt he looked similar to, when he slips out of his clothes, when he flexes himself in the reflection of a mirror, he could vaguely pass himself off as Oceanus the Titan, seated in the heart of Fotana di Trevi. Few ordinary people ever look like Terry or are ever built like Terry, even if they’re in sports themselves, so he always found it partially funny how he had to look to actual deities to find something he related to where sheer physicality was concerned. In the aftermath, I feel he developed a great appreciation for statues as decor and housed a great many of them in his Glendower mansion in the 80′s.
- Geneva ― It is doubtless that Terry has countless overseas banking accounts tucked away here and there and everywhere, because keeping one’s money separate and often untraceable just in case is an entirely prudent and strategic thing to do for anyone dealing with large sums of money --- the main (and most deliberately visible) of which are located possibly (and most probably) in Switzerland, so places like Geneva, Bern, Zürich, Basel and all its many financial and economic centers and hubs become like a pilgrimage for any well to do Billionaire. Terry included, of course. Heck! Especially Terry. I feel an annual visitation to the place, personally, without sending a private banker, assistant, advisor, lawyer or managerial team is something Terry does and has done all his life one way or another, ever since he took over his father’s dealings and in fact, it has become such a habitual, traditional, entirely ingrained thing for him that people in said cities, affiliated offices and banks already know him on a first name basis by sheer association and expect his customary arrival during certain months of the fiscal year like it is Christmas morning.
- Dublin ― Well, if we take the time to headcanon that Terry could have an Irish heritage to himself through at least one side of his family, this city becomes exceedingly special to him to the point he finds an odd difficulty talking about it openly because he feels tremendously protective and territorial of it (and even fairly sensitive once you scratch the surface), especially in a high class, fairly vapid echelon that perhaps wouldn’t choose the particular locale as their first go-to for a glitzy vacation. Which, honestly, their loss, seeing as how he isn’t keen on sharing, feeling something oddly defensive that he can’t quite categorize kicking in, where he wishes to keep the things truly extraordinary to himself and conveniently hidden and unmentioned in front of others, much like one keeps a lover they’re jealous of being seen hidden and unmentioned as well. But, Terry finds the city immensely meaningful and even coveted to the point he often visits it covertly, on the downlow, so nobody would know and nobody would bother him doing so. Why? Because he cares. If he cared less, he’d speak of Dublin more readily.
- Seoul ― Terry’s been and stayed in Seoul somewhere after Vietnam or maybe even during it, on some sort of temporary army leave. The timeline of it is murky and vastly underexplored, but this is where Terry’s and John’s journey and more serious endeavors into Tang Soo Do and Karate really started under Sensei Kim Sun-Yung tutelage and they’ve picked up, or rather polished and perfected the expertise of the craft, as, no doubt recommended by Captain Turner who also studied there during the Korean war himself, years prior. I envision Terry’s highly respectful of the city and goes back there with a sort of hallowed regard and reverence just based off of the fact what and just how much he learned there and how it impacted him all throughout his later life, feeling, perhaps, that the city and its cultural aspects served to shape and strengthen him as an individual --- body, mind and soul, possibly as much as Vietnam as a whole did. It in a sense, directly served as a trajectory to start transforming Twig into the Terry Silver we know, in, yes, all his darkness.
