You walk out into the town. There’s a chill in the air and you feel your shoulders tense up in the cold. From the corner of your eye, you notice a hanging wooden sign; an elaborate logo and a name written in cursive that’s nearly illegible, but you just barely make out the characters for “cafe”.
You could do with a cup of coffee.
The building is quaint. Squeezed into the corner of the road by the adjacent establishments, it just barely gets any sun. But at this point in the afternoon, the sun is peeking out from behind the clouds and paints the storefront with a streak of light.
You pull at the door and it creaks open with the sound of a little bell. It’s small inside. A small bar with stools that also act as the serving counter; what looks like a well kept, but old sofa sitting by the window; a bookshelf stuffed with aged books. The space is filled with the scent of coffee, baked goods and old paper.
You approach the counter and lean over to call for service when you’re caught off guard by a head of vivid indigo hair. A person works behind the counter dressed in a tan service apron over a cozy looking cardigan. They turn to you and greet your gaze with a pair of bright green eyes. Your eyes dart away and to the nametag pinned over the uniform. They approach you and gesture to pull up their sleeves.
As far as I can remember, these are races my characters have so far encountered in the RF universe.
(I didn’t include Priestesses and Oracles because I think they’re less a race and more a state of mind or a status? And a character of any race can potentially be appointed to be a Priestess or Oracle by blessing of the Native Dragons or the gods.)
With just enough possessions to fill a large chest and a half; moving was its own ordeal.
Even in just relocating from one mid-sized town to another, any new environment is filled with its own unique challenges. But things were overdue for change, and Indigo felt it was very well time to welcome it back into her life with hesitant, but open arms.
A little doodle of Indigo (she/they) in my tiny sketch book as I make the slow, but hopefully eventual, move to update Indigo and all of her cousins' designs.
I'm updating her age from the previous 19 to the current 23, just so my thoughts can fit more comfortably in her shoes. But also because I'll be spreading out her and her cousins' ages a lot more.
I have the intention of keeping her hair purple/indigo tinted but not quite as saturated as previously depicted, likewise with her greener eyes, of which I have plans to make more hazel.
I have yet to play through RF5, but in a space where characters get refitted for Rigbarth, I like to think of her still as a temporary staff member for The Blue Moon with Murakumo and an occasional delivery person for the local businesses within town or busperson at the Lackadaisy. I have no intentions of stripping her odd job person status from her even in a new setting~ And she's pleased with that.
