🏗 A few more images from ‘Belfast Docks 2000’ published by @caferoyalbooks - seen here installing new cabling on one of the dockside loading cranes. The huge crane runs along train tracks - One of the crane drivers ran over a Ford Transit van that was parked on the dock - completely destroying it. He didn’t even know he hit it until somebody radioed up to tell him. 😬 #belfast #belfastdocks #northernireland #ireland #docks #dockworker #crane #2000 #2000s #caferoyalbooks #harlandandwolff #belfastlough #lough #dockside (at Belfast Docks Northern Ireland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE6IYlWH758/?igshid=epadynsaucw8
Here’s a spread and also the cover from my new @caferoyalbooks book: Belfast Docks 2000 - Billy McCall walking the tightrope about to replace a broken beacon. #socialdocumentary #documentaryphotography #belfastdocks #belfast #northernireland #ireland #dockside #dockworker #tugboat #caferoyalbooks (at Belfast Docks Northern Ireland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CETfKTuHE6d/?igshid=1uj0sccz1m8dm
Really pleased to receive copies of my new book: Belfast Docks 2000 published by @caferoyalbooks It’s old work & I’m really pleased that it’s finally seeing the light of day some 20 years on, (and yes, this does make me feel old). These photos were born out of a commission by ‘Belfast Exposed Gallery’ and were taken over the course of a few months. Basically, documenting the day to day activities of dock workers. It’s unlikely I’d be able to get access these days due to strict health & safety restrictions that are in place. I had a one minute health and safety induction with the supervisor which was, in a nutshell: “Mind yourself at heights & keep an eye out for lorries on the loading bays. Oh, and don’t fall in, the dockside’s slippy”.
