You want to know why I didn’t report? Because I had lied to my mom about where I was going and thought it was all my fault and I was afraid of getting in trouble.

I was 17.

And I stood there afterward as he bragged to his friends about what he’d just done, his arm draped over my shoulder.

And it scarred and shaped the way I thought about my worth and value as a person for decades.

It happened when I was a junior in high school and I tell you what — if this person was up for SCOTUS you are damn sure I’d speak up.

Also, I just told my 83-year old Mom about this tonight. I didn’t want her to learn about it via social media. Sadly, she said it didn’t surprise her this had happened. So I asked if it had ever happened to her. ... pause ... she says “no” but she knows it happened all the time - especially men who were “handsy” with women employees. What followed was a wonderfully honest discussion.

Change the culture. Raise good humans.
