ok hello my internet is working let me share my 5am rantings about bella swan (and yes if anyone was wondering this was partially sparked by that godawful joss quote that has been floating around from this article) (also i'm sO SORRY THIS IS SO LONG HOLY SHIT) 

i've made an executive decision about my life and that decision is that i am so tired of people shitting on bella swan for falling in love LIKE I'M NOT SAYING THERE ARE NOT PROBLEMATIC ELEMENTS TO HER STORYLINE and I'M NOT SAYING THERE ARE NOT PROBLEMATIC ELEMENTS TO THE BELLA/EDWARD RELATIONSHIP and i'm not even saying that bella swan is a particularly well-written character but regardless of all of that!!! this is a girl who walked with her head up into a den of terrifying human-hating vampires to protect the person that she loved and punched a dude (a werewolf dude!!!! with super strength and a super ill temper!!!) in the face when he tried to kiss her even after she had explicitly stated she was not interested and this is a girl who repeatedly risked her own life to keep her boyfriend/family/best friend safe this is a girl who cUT HER ARM OPEN TO DISTRACT A VAMPIRE WHO HAD BEEN TRYING TO KILL HER FOR YEARS FROM A FIGHT WITH HER BOYFRIEND and this is a girl who had such a capacity for love that she was able to transform it into a literal superpower 

and the fact that she fell in love when she was seventeen/the fact that she mourned the loss of her boyfriend when he broke up with her and told her that she would never see him again/the fact that despite the wishes of essentially everybody in her life INCLUDING her husband she chose to tackle motherhood despite the gigantic risk it was to her own life/the fact that the twilight series is a fairly terribly written series full of plotlines that i literally cannot believe made it into a bestselling series does nothing to negate the fact that bella swan is not the Weak Helpless Young Adult Female Protagonist that people are so quick to make her out to be 

alsO LIKE can the next person who attempts to draw a comparison between katniss everdeen and bella swan just stop for a fucking second and consider the drastically different circumstances surrounding the characters??? katniss grew up in a world where she had to fight every single day of her life to survive and she couldn't afford to trust people or love people or become close to anyone but that doesn't make her an inherently better character than a girl who is defined by her ability to love because GUESS WHAT people are different and not all teenage girls have to fit into a mold and as a group they are allowed to feel/express emotions differently (also tbh i see a lot of parallels between katniss/peeta and edward/bella with the only difference being that in k/p it is the dude who falls in love with the complex and somewhat emotionally unavailable character so it's Sweet and Charming that he loves her so much and he is so Loyal and Deserving because he sticks by her through everything but god forbid bella feel that way about edward because then she is Pathetic and Needy) 

ALSO!!!! this could be wrong which is why it's my last point and if i am wrong someone feel free to correct me but like twilight was always marketed as a love story??? like it never claimed to be anything different so i get so annoyed when people are like "omg it's all about the love triangle~" yes because that's what it was /supposed/ to be about it was always about the love story between bella and edward and jacob obviously played a big part of that so yes there is a love triangle it must be the end of the fucking world because no successful novel/film/television series has ever used a love triangle as a plot device stephenie meyer is the only known offender of this crime against humanity oh my god okay i'm so annoyed bye
