With the new serum in hand, she rode on towards Quel’thalas. Bella was only upset she hadn’t brought Miss Shiny with her so she would get there faster. The clomping of hooves, however reminded her again why she hadn’t- Her few friends that had got her here, who made all of this possible, were with her, too.
Up ahead, at the gate to the Ghostlands, she saw a small blockade. Her lips curled in confusion. As she approached, she learned why. Feloth and some other ex-Farstriders were blocking the path, already aiming their weapons at her.
“What’s the meaning for this... this... obstruction? I haven’t done anything to you, have I, Feloth?” The stout woman gazed upon the archer with proud purpose and a hand on the bag that held the vials.
“You and your troops are hereby banned from progressing any further by order of Regent Lord Lor’themar Theron. You have been found as a threat to yourself and blood elven society as a whole and must be eliminated,” The man said curtly, an eye on the satchel she was defensive about.
The two behind her stirred, and Bella drew her shield, giving but a small glance behind her. She knew why she was held up, having been known as a racist against her own kind for many years, but the misunderstanding now, when she was trying to save the blood elves, didn’t make much sense. “The two behind me are innocents. They needed an escort through the ever-dangerous Plaguelands. Leave them be; Just know that I will not be taken down without a fight.”
Feloth narrowed his eyes to the undead and the blood elf behind her, not believing what she said in the slightest. “Kill them all.”
Bella sat behind her shield, deflecting arrows, bolts and bullets, but her friends weren’t so lucky. Between the echoing sound of gunfire and strings pulled taught, two thunmps hit the ground. The stout elf eventually had the chance to look behind her.
Her heart sank and all she could do was stare. I caused those deaths, she thought, shaking a little bit, looking them over. She didn’t notice that she had become surrounded by Feloth’s troops until he picked a fight with her horse.
His face was twisted in anger and futility as he tried to use his sword to sever the horse’s neck, but Ms. Bones would bite back, preventing him from trying. It looked like he wanted to destroy anything that he could, even if it were desperate, vain attempts.
But there was nothing Bella could do, she realized. The rangers had already circled around with their spears, and in unison...
They had dragged the bodies into the underbrush at the sides of the road, smashed the vials, stole anything important, and began to head back towards the capital. But yet, Feloth still felt as though something was missing. Suuri, his wife and Bella’s younger sister, was gone now, so no odd familial things would come between them, until he remembered-
Aluca, Bella’s older sister. A woman built for war, she would be a difficult threat if she came after them. But why would she? There was no proof that he’d done it. No issuance, no papers, no specific weapon as he’d used basic weapons. So why did he still feel like something was missing?
Still, he thought. Her schemes were no doubt heinous. She’s destroyed armies before- why not again with civilians? She had to be put down. Feloth reassured himself what he did was good, but his thoughts continued to plague him for many years after.
